October Photos

I’ve been fairly prolific with photography so far this month, and have started to take more picture while I’m out and about, mainly as an effort to post up things to my Instagram account. Of course, some things I’ll save for here (especially if the square crop doesn’t work), so here are a nice lot of photos I’ve taken over the last month, some from Instagram, and others not!

I’ve also been looking at the work of David Hurn a lot recently too. He used a lovely word do describe what he does, that I think applies to what I seem to do – Flâneur – which is a French term meaning “a man who saunters around observing society”. I love this term, and reading up on his photographic ethos – photographing the everyday banality of life – is definitely something I can relate to (not much happens on the Isle of Wight) and while I’m still trying to break the uncomfortableness I get photographing people in public (a street photographer I’m not) I hope I can take some inspiration from him and hopefully some more “observing” photos will creep onto the site (and Instagram) in the near future…
